Stencyl and Scratch

This topic belongs here because I already know Scratch, and I want to know the difference between Stencyl and Scratch, rather than help on Scratch. (unnecessarily long sentence)

Anyway, I was thinking of getting Stencyl, but I'm not sure how different it is from Scratch, because I want more possibilities, if that's the right word :P

Before I get it, can someone who uses it or has used it tell me if there's any real significant difference? Thanks :D

Re: Stencyl and Scratch

Theres some differences, but it's not too bad
theres a slight learning curve i guess?
it does have a lot of nice presets and it shoulnt be too too hard to learn
i personally havei t sitting in my programming folder doing nothing, too lazy to learn

Re: Stencyl and Scratch

It has a lot faster framerate.
Games are easier to make
Other things are usually harder
Stencyl updates more
Stencyl has better support

It's a good transition to real programming. I am currently making an app with it.

Alrighty then, thanks.

I was thinking of just downloading it right now, because why the heck not, it's free.

Okay, I'm probably getting it now. Thanks  big_smile

I am installing it right now at this very second.

Well, that was quick. Let's open this sucker up, shall we?

Re: Stencyl and Scratch

It is much better, but doesn't have an in built graphics editor.

I thought they added one in?

But it shouldn't make a difference, are you not going to learn java or python or C because it doesn't have a built in graphics editor? it's a programming language not a children's toy.

It had one every time I used it, and the first time was while it was still in beta. They could have removed it since then, but I don't know.

Perhaps they did?

Oh and I was comparing it to scratch, like the topic creator asked us to, not saying that it was bad because it didn't have a built in graphics editor.

Fro my information, it does not has one, but instead when prompted tto edit graphics edits an external program for editing graphics of your choice, I currently have GIMP.
