Welcome to Style Xi, the collaboration where everyone's a leader.

Style Xi was the original group collaboration. Our founder, hotwire left us to run another collaboration. We decided to carry on working, so we devised a solution to the problem of who would lead.

The Style Xi 3 Organisation panel is as follows:

Once you join, you are an Xi Newbie. After a few weeks, once you have produced something towards our current project, you become a
Full Xi Member.
Full Xi members are basically the same as newbies, just not new. Full Xi members range in activity fromaybe checking once a week to posting every few days.
If the Xi Organiser sees fit, a keen Full member can be promoted (at choice) to a senior Xi member.
Senior members are expected to post at least once a week and help out as much as they can . Only by becoming a senior member can you go on to take a major role in our organisation.

Major roles:
If a senior member wants to become one of the leading members, all he or she has to do is to post to say something along the lines of: "I would like to take the position of ....".
If just one other person agrees, a vote is set In place. The the winner of that vote goes on to take the challenged position. There were originally meant to be three admins, two Xi-solvers and an assistant for the organiser. We will choose four of the first few senior members to fill these positions once we have some senior members to choose from.

The three major roles are:
Xi Admin- admins encourage, help and support people. Tpaley is currently the main admin. Agentroop is also an admin, if he comes back.
Xi Solver- solvers have the responsibility of handing out jobs and compiling projects from what other people have made. Firedrake is the current Xi Solver.
Xi Organiser- the organiser runs and organises the voted, positions, and creates a checklist at the start of every project. I, pinnipediator, am the current organiser.

P110 is currently working on the website. When it is done, the website will allow members extra features ( hopefully). Any other help for him is welcome, but you have to be a senior member first.

Now I've explained the system, we can get onto the good stuff.
You don't have to know or remember the system, in fact, the only person who ever needs to learn this is the organiser, and it isn't that essential.

Who we'll accept to join:
anyone!
Whether you have a speciality or not, you can join to learn, or you can join for graphics, sound, animation, music, programming, or anything else you can think of (e.g. Story writing or research)

Here is the application to join. It isn't long, because we want to get formalities over quickly. Just fill it in to join. There is a 99.999% chance that you'll be accepted.

That's sort of it as an intro to this collab. All graphics by tpaley, the old topic only exists for people to discuss the making of the website. Please don't post there unless you are helping with the website. Thank you.

Our first project will be a tower-defence style game. All ideas and/or suggestions welcome.

liking the computer idea, unfortunately it's been done already. Very well too. ( it's on greatstickgames.com somewhere. It could be defence against asteroids and aliens and stuff in a spaceship. That's been done too, but it's easier to muck around with. I still prefer the computer virus idea, if someone can think of an interesting twist to add to it.

I'll do that now.
How about a tower defence rpg crossover, maybe you could be defending an online antivirus program while surfing cyberspace. You defend your cyber ship to fend off intruders before you start and at every checkpoint. Between each checkpoint you have to complete the goal from the last one and keep off intruders with your defences. You get money for every intruder beaten back, but if your defences are breached, you have to go back to the last checkpoint. Some of your defences run out of energy and are destroyed over time, so you have to be quick between checkpoints. Goals include things like 'beat the hacker in 'ip location '.
As a last level, you could save scratch from deletion. It should be a top- down 4- direction scroller, like the pokemon games, and I could go into a bottomless pit of detail with this idea, but tell me what you think first.

ok. got an idea. scrolling tower defense game where you run around and make tanks. when you get close enough to a tank, you can see it's stats. if it's an ally tank, you can set it to manual to go inside the tank and re-position it, move faster in it, and do manual fire. working on it.

I'm assuming that's the base, or something similar. Okay, I'll set some assignments then. When you get an assignment, upload it in a scratch project, and either me, firedrake, any of the programmers or tpaley will add it to the base as an update.
Numberonegamers, start making boom sfx, maybe some sort of tank noises as well? We don't mind how long you take at the moment. Who is doing graphics? Anyone who can do graphics, start making pictures of tanks. Shall I animate some explosions?

sounds good. yeah. that was the base. I'll do trigonometric graphics (graphics using trig) for text and stuff so that it looks nice.

1 more job: anyone know how to do that fancy scrolling where your player moves and the scrolling needs to catch up to the player.

Hey. The beta is coming out today, so I've been checking out Scratch again. You guys have done a lot!
