Yeah, I mainly choose grass or fire types. Here's my list:
Bulbasaur
Cyndaquil
Torchic
Turtwig
Tepig (chose Oshawott for Black 2 though :3)

I can't decide if I want Fennekin or Chespin. I'll decide when I get more info, probably.

I never chose a grass type:
Charmander (leafgreen)
Chimchar (diamond)
Piplup (platinum)
Cyndaquil (soulsilver)
Tepig (white)
Oshawott (blak 2, if I get it)
Froakie (y)

Except for when I chose each starter and transferred em to Platinum from Leafgreen before starting the permanent game.
But my sister loves grass types so i get here to breed em and give me some.
She has chosen:
Turtwig (pearl)
Chikorita (soulsilver)
Totadile (heartgold)
Oshawott (black)
and either Chespin or Fennekin for X or Y
until then it's evened out, 2 grass types and 2 water types.
BUT SHE STILL WON'T GIVE ME AN OSHAWOTT EVEN AFTER I BRED A TEPIG AND GROWLITHE FOR HER!!!!!!!!

Sometimes that happens with my sisters and I so we can breed and trade the starters so we all get each of them. Only, one of my sisters is selfish with her starters and doen't like giving me an egg.
See she was fine giving me her Torterra's son, and I bred him to get her Torterra's GRANDson. She was also fine with giving me her Meganium's son although it took a little more persuading. But she won't give me a baby Totadile or Oshawott, even when I breed the Pokemon she wants for it!

Good luck with those starters. I want Froakie and luckily both my sisters want a different one (the youngest wants Fennekin, the next oldest wants Chespin, and I want Froakie) [I'm the oldest, don't get confused!]

Yup, but luckily I have something she wants and I'll never give her.
See, I have a LOT of legendary Pokemon and she's always asking me for Latias. Sometimes she says "I'll give you an Oshawott for it"
And I'm like, "What the..?! No way!"

Yeah, same here. Even though I have a DS and 3DS, I hope they make they make an easier way to transfer.

I'm getting Fennekin. I don't know if anyone has said this yet, but Fennekin is based off of the fennec fox.
