EzySqueeze - A Ubuntu Distro

http://i50.tinypic.com/293ejxg.png
Font used in logo is "Ubuntu" by Canonical

Hey everybody, I am quite accustomed to the Linux world and I thought it would be about time for me to start making my own Distro!

It is called EzySqueeze, and it is designed to be easy and fun to use. It is based on Ubuntu which makes it stable and reliable to use, and the interface is easy to learn for people who have already used Ubuntu

(I am going to post more information later  smile )

Nice!

Just wondering, what desktop environment are you using?

Yay, I like both of them(GNOME more). Maybe you could have 2 flavours or more?

Yeah, maybe  smile

Just for ease of use for me I am gonna stick with Unity for now, and maybe make a GNOME flavour later on in the project.

No thank you. I can code my own website.
Also, for now I am keeping this a personal project

Progress Update: Finally got user desktop backgrounds changed and also changed the Unity Dash icon to the EzySqueeze logo.

Re: EzySqueeze - A Ubuntu Distro

I will definitely be using this  smile

If I could make a suggestion it would to be not to make it an Ubuntu distro because it is laggy on some devices (nowadays). I would go off of Linux Mint's source since it is really nice and the Cinnamon desktop is wonderful.

... Just saying, does not need to be changed if it would be too much...

Re: EzySqueeze - A Ubuntu Distro

This sounds cool! I started making my own Ubuntu distro a while back, but I didn't really know where to start. All I done was added a few programs I most commonly used on Ubuntu.

The kernel is the Linux kernel. Modifying it will render it as not a linux distro. Basically he is adding programs and changing graphics.

Re: EzySqueeze - A Ubuntu Distro

I do not use the ubuntu source. I install and modify it.

No, the distro is going to stay as Ubuntu.

For those thinking my current progress is a load of rubbish, I have put a lot of effort in it so far. If you are going to expect me to be editing source in the second day of dev, it isn't happening.

I like the colour more than the default Ubuntu colour. Are you remastering Ubuntu?

In effect, yes, but in a full distribution scale.

What program are you using to remaster?

Ubuntu Builder, in my current plan. If I dont use Ubuntu Builder, I will use remastersys.

I tried UCK (Ubuntu Customisation Kit). Some things are a pain because I couldn't get the package manager (Synaptic) to work properly, so I used the terminal and apt-get instead. I might try and find my Ubuntu disc and install in VirtualBox. I don't have the latest version though.

I, so far have had to use terminal quite a lot.

Anyways, tiny update: Finally managed to change "Ubuntu Desktop" to say "EzySqueeze Desktop"

Re: EzySqueeze - A Ubuntu Distro

Just as I was getting into the project, the OS decided to kill itself. So I have to start again. No problem, I still have all the images.

Re: EzySqueeze - A Ubuntu Distro

Triple Whammy really.

1) Ubuntu thinks it is debian for some reason
2) Software centre dosnt work at all
3) Regular system errors

So I am starting fresh.
