Better automatic Credit on remixes

Since people never give credit, it should be an option for the creator of a project to tick a box so that if someone is to remix it will automatically say on the notes "I give credit to(Player Here)" It should not only be on remixes, but if you export sprites from other people projects. Including music and backgrounds. Please bring this into scratch 2.0, im begging!!!

(this isSilverado's idea)

Please reply if you support this idea!

Re: Better automatic Credit on remixes

Sounds like a good idea, but the ST can't really force you to have something in your projects notes. What if you change the exported sprite to something almost completely different? What if you export one of your sprites? What if you download it from Scratch Resources? These are all things you would have to take into account.

Re: Better automatic Credit on remixes

I think that the "Based on _____'s project" should be removed, this should not be implemented, users should be able to see who downloaded their projects, and remixers required to give credit manually, simply because there are ways to fool Scratch if you want to copy a project. I will not disclose how, but it should not be hard to guess for one familiar with Scratch.

^this. Also, couldn't people just edit the auto-credit out? What about using your computer to take screenshots of sprites or using your microphone to record sounds? No matter what you do, people can still find a way around whatever it is.

Re: Better automatic Credit on remixes

I don't support, the based off link is fine on it's own. If someone imports a project or sprites then adequate credit needs to be given, but you can't force things into people's notes automatically.

Hey, let the folks at Mojang sew!  It's a hobby that never hurt anyone (besides needle stabs)!  xD
Actually, Namco required the removal of a Pacman game a few years back.

Because Namco is money hungry. And will sue for money. Mojang is not.

There is one way that I can think of that's even easier than that. Here's a hint: It involves a blank project and a certain option in the File menu. Therefore, I think my idea would be better: allow the users to flag remixes without credit.

Oh, the import project button?
+1 on being able to see who downloaded something.

Re: Better automatic Credit on remixes

We should give credit, I agree. People might work hard on a sprite or background or something else, and you feel kind of bad when people steal it and say they made o something like that. Ideas are copyright too, but sometimes someone might use an idea, not knowing that someone already did something just like it. Just be honest, and most of all, be nice! There are people behind the icons:D

well, namco demanded the removal of a pacman project even though it was nothing like the real game, but simpler

Re: Better automatic Credit on remixes

I think that this is a very good idea, but technically credit is given in the "based on(User)'s project". I think that is the automatic credit already.

All im saying is that the notes would be a better place for it as people tend to miss that part under the projects.
