Re: Music Production : The Topic

I mainly play and sing and just record using my iphone but sometimes, I use Garageband. I also have audacity but I don't really use it much. I am also in a newly formed band called Pride. We have released our first song called You're my shining silver star and now currently composing our next song, with no name. I play the drums, in  the band, and I am currently learning violin, keyboard/piano, bassoon and play a little of the ukulele and guitar. I don't really have the expensive recording equipment  - I improvise

Cool, where's Pride's link?

And I like your submissions, they're very fresh and vibrant.

Pride doesn't have a link at the moment. I am trying to confirm with  my friends about it.
Thanks though

Re: Music Production : The Topic

I got so fed up with my friends constantly asking me to join facebook that I just sat down and wrote a song called "facecrook". I'll record and post it in a few days.

The process of writing, actually playing, recording and mixing a song is way too hard. Setting up a rig for optimal audio quality, being an actually proficient player to play your song flawlessly (sometimes requiring you to be a flawless multi-instrumentalist) and then all the antics of mixing... It's horrible. D:

I just repaired my old desktop computer, I'm definitely gonna use it as my own dedicated music producing rig.  big_smile  Gonna install Ubuntu Studio on it. c:

Re: Music Production : The Topic

What i meant by that was creating music in software where you drag notes and stuff is a lot easier than doing what you just listed :p

Lot harder, but more rewarding in the end. I'd do it if I had time (or equipment)

Re: Music Production : The Topic

Basic progressive electronic music is easy to do (once you get patterns and percussion) but stuff like dubstep and filters are harder without plug-ins.

Percussion is the easiest, it's just you need to learn how chords work, and intervals and progressions, it's pretty crazy.

In FL Studio there's a helpful thing in the piano roll where if you click the little arrow in the top left corner there is a "chords" tab which I found useful.

Also speaking of dubstep, check out my latest song: https://soundcloud.com/mellowkeys/summit

Re: Music Production : The Topic

I'm thinking of doing a collab, but the last time I tried (I did one with MrMokey recently) I never got any response. Any active artists want a collab?

Re: Music Production : The Topic

CAUSTIC 2 pro for Android, with some cheapo headphones and a YPG-625 keyboard with midi support.

I might get mixxx on the computer that happens to run ubuntu at the moment. After I figure out why it's only playing one sound at a time  hmm

edit: any tips for composing melodies? I *suck* at that :(((((
editedit: any low-cost midi controllers out there for e.g. finger drumming? and what software should I use after I fix audio? so many questions deauuuuugh
