ok, i see were your going, but sometimes metaly ill people just wake up and SNAP! they are rage filled, but after what they see what they have done, im sure the rage goes away

i can understand that. all i really want to say is that he wasn't necessarily mentally ill. i wouldn't be at all surprised if he was, but i wouldn't either if he was perfectly mentally-able. i guess everything i have said can be summarised as "don't assume things without a good deal of evidence".

Not seen personally, but thousands if not millions of people do this every year. Thousands if not millions of ABLE people.

Exactly. I didn't say DISABLED. I said sane people do not do that. Of sound mind is the definition of sane. When you totally lose control, you can be temporarily not of sound mind, and it can drive people to do that.

most people think he was metaly ill, but we'll just have to wait for the news to make sure its true

i don't want to start or continue any argument, but i want to share my opinion on gun control.

in america if they suddenly banned guns it just would not work. some might hand in guns, but many would hide stashes of guns, and eventually gangs would have lots of guns while everyone else would be defenceless (although tbh guns aren't the best defensive weapons, a lot of robbers go into houses and find the guns intended to defend that house and use them to attack that house) however it would be good to bit by bit strengthen gun control and make it harder to get a license.

Well - this topic is becoming quite antagonistic. 

We were hoping that this topic would let people express their feelings and share some different perspectives that might be helpful to Scratchers trying to get a handle on this tragedy.  What I'm seeing is some of that - but also a lot of aggressive attacks that aren't very helpful or respectful.  If it continues, the topic will be closed.

I was very sad to hear about this, it's such a shame that for whatever reason, this sort of event is becoming a more and more common occurrence in this world.

My friend sent me this picture of this first grade teacher who sacrificed herself for her class. She hid them all in cabinets and told the shooter they were in the gym. Then the guy shot her down ;(
