Scratch to (insert programming language here) translator

I think it would be AWESOME if Scratch could tell you how to write in other programs as well as itself considering it can be used to teach programming!

Re: Scratch to (insert programming language here) translator

But that would be way to hard.
The scratch team already have their hands full with getting 2.0 done.
Adding in a tutorial for more programming language(s) is going to overwhelm them, while also not being their top priority.

Check out the EasyAsPy topic in the AT forum.  smile

A java translator has also already been made.

if you're referring to ToJar, that isn't really a translator, it just bundles the java player with the scratch project.
In most cases, converting from one programming language to another is pretty hard

Here's one.

I disagree with the topic creator. Scratch is merely an introduction to programming, and going to other languages after it is something you should figure out on your own. It's easy enough with the Internet and all - there are lots of tutorials and tools created to make the process much easier.

Of course, there's always the possibility of making a Scratch VM in another language, and making a program that bundles a .sb with said VM - like the above linked "Scratch to .jar" app does.
