"Nearing Beta Test Phase"
"Announcing the timetable in December"

This sounds very encouraging, a sign that (hopefully!) 2.0 is in clear sight now

Re: Meet the Scratch 2.0 Dev Team!

Why do most members say Scratch 2.0 will be releashed in 2013?

If they're releasing the timetable in December, it'll take time to do the beta stage and then make preparations. I don't think there's any chance of a 2012 release.

Other than the fact that they taste good? Probably not.

Re: Meet the Scratch 2.0 Dev Team!

Question, is there a reason why Scratch isn't fully open source or why it can't be turned into an open source project?

Since there are a million members on this site, and about half of them know how to hack into a website, the scratch team might be a little scared that someone might hack into the website. (my theory)

I mean more for the Scratch program. It's not very easy for normal Scratchers to contribute to Scratch's code with the "current system" and the only way to really release their code/patches is by making a new mod. I'm sure development would go a little faster if the code were more open for people to add little patches and fixes or at least submit code to the ST to review and if they think it's good, then add to the official code.

Besides, a million heads is better than 10.  smile

I like the sum up of the people working on the Scratch 2.0, I feel that I know better, who does what, and how things are organised.

No, Andresmh hasn't been around Scratch much for quite a while now.  He's moved on to other things.  In an academic setting, such as the MIT Media Lab, people come and go quite a bit - it's to be expected.  We all wish him good luck with his work at Microsoft  smile
