Help with new mario type game!
Hi,
ive been using scratch a while but never joined the site!
i was wondering if anyone knew an answer to my question. When using scratch you are confined to the stage area but in some games i have seen that it is possible to move along the stage into a new area to the right/left of the stage. How is this done?

It isn't exactly a stage, but it's a sprite that acts as a stage. Instead of moving the character left or right, it moves the stage in the opposite direction, making the character move compared to the background.

Hmm, it sounds like you're looking for a scroller/scrolling project, where the scenery scrolls across the stage. kayybee gave a pretty good, brief description of it, and there's more information on scrolling here. 
Everything is better when you add a little cheddar, because when you have cheese your life is at ease
