How come video games feel so short

It feels like a spend an hour on the game finished it 100% then i spend another 50 on DLC to make the game feel long.

Is this an excuse by game developers to make money? Because if it is companys are just money hungry.

You're either very good at games or you lack the knowledge that people make games to make money. Or both.

Play metroid. Or any metroid game. Then tell me games are hard to 100%.

out of interest, what games do you play? because most decent games I know of are impossible to even 25% in an hour.

Well if you wanted honesty, that's all you had to say. I never want to let you down or have you go, it's better off this way.

Re: How come video games feel so short

It usually takes me months to finish a game, especially games with hardcore dungeons like Darksiders Two. With Pokemon games it's more like one or two days. There is a huge difference in the kind of games you play. So, I must ask the same question as Alternatives, what kinds of games do you play?  tongue

No wonder they feel so short to you.

I don't know much about FPS, but Pokemon is so easy.

The games I play take you at least a good year if not more to 100%.

Re: How come video games feel so short

Everblue 2 will take you a very long time to 100%.
(Getting all titles and shells is what I consider 100%)

Even if you cheat and use the walkthrough itll take you a few months at least (and probably much longer)

Re: How come video games feel so short

It all depends in the complexity (is it just a linear storyline to complete like in modern FPS games, or lots of side stuff to get 100% like in GTA?) and difficulty (is it Pokemon or Contra?  tongue ) of the game is question. You're likely playing easy, linear games. Pokemon => grind your Pokemon to lv100 and beat Gym leaders and Elite Four.

Re: How come video games feel so short

lbp 2 never ends
anyway if a video game feels short go back and play it again on a higher difficulty or going for 100% or something

I don't know much about FPS, but Pokemon is so easy.

FPS campaigns don't usually take long, unless it's something like Borderlands. But if it's something like COD, it won't take as long because they focus more on multiplayer.

Re: How come video games feel so short

The only game in which I know where you could get 100% in an hour or two is SS&S:EP but that's intended to be short.

Re: How come video games feel so short

Mass Effect 3 seemed to go on forever the first time I played it. Now on the second playthrough, now that I know what to do, it seems really short. I could finish it in 4-5 hours nonstop if I wanted to....

Re: How come video games feel so short

You may be used to the lengthy games of old and these newer FPS games with hour-long campaigns seem new and (obviously) short to you. It's nothing about the money (unless it's Activision, who've churned out the same CoD for the past 7 years) but about what you think of the game, whether it was good or not. Forget the length, what impact has the game made on you? (unless it's Activision.) If you didn't like the game, try a newer genre, like adventure, strategy, horror or indie. You don't have to play what everyone wants, but what you like.

END.

Re: How come video games feel so short

Minecraft is one of those never ending games. You can just do whatever you want, and it never seems to end. You can complete every aspect of the game, except the enderdragon, and STILL have things to do. Once you've fought the Enderdragon, you can use the end as an infinitely long spacious building area. It's just the beautiful thing about Minecraft.

Games have mostly stayed the same in terms od longstanding games older games are difficult to make the game feel longer. Or they make tons of stuff to find.
