Computer Viruses

Discuss the weirdest and craziest virus that has ever happened to your computer. Heres my example. I was going to listen to some trace music, so I opened the program I use, RealPlayer. It said, before letting me listen to music: Please update to the newer version of RealPlayer -- [ok] [cancel] . There as nothing wrong with this, so I updated. It took about 3 minutes. Everything was going fine when a strange sound came from my computer. On my desktop was an icon that certainly wasn't there before. It was called Norton Security Scan. Before I could do anything, a Norton Scan came up on my computer, and said: Your computer has no viruses. But I knew better than to believe this strange auto-installed Scan, so I went to delete the program. As some of you may imagine, there was no uninstall button to be found.  tongue  I called the computer whiz in my family to check it out. Eventually it was back to normal, and Norton had been eliminated.

I really hope this doesn't get closed! It's kind of Reading...

Re: Computer Viruses

I had one virus. I was programming on Scratch when a text bug appeared and forced me to close the program. I tried again, another text bug.

Suddenly, as I exited Scratch, the computer made a weird noise and the screen went black. I looked at the cords to see if something had been unplugged, but all the plugs were in order.

We finally got our computer working after a couple of hours. But as soon as the desktop lit up, our files started disappearing one after another. After days and days of constant scans and deletion, the computer broke and we had to buy a new one.

I hate Norton so much! We didn't renew our membership to it after our free 30 day trial and now there are banners and ads popping up everywhere across the screen saying: "You used to roam the internet with freedom, not caring about what you searched, clicked and downloaded. And the reason was Norton. Renew your membership now!"

Goodbye 1.4. I'll always remember you and treasure your awesomeness in my heart.

Wow, that's intense. Sorry about that.

Re: Computer Viruses

Hey, I've got another.
It was during school, and I was supposed to go to some website and learn something about beats, as in music.  tongue  Well anyways, there were things you could click on, and hear what the beats sounded like. I was bored, so I found a little thing where you could make your own beat and hear it played. As any bored middle school-er would do, I completely loaded the note box with drum beats.  lol  I played it back. BIG MISTAKE. It lagged, then beeped, then who knows what, then started making a sound that I didn't even know a Windows XP could make. I did a more sensible thing, and closed the website. The sound stayed. I turned off my speakers then turned them on a gain. The sound stayed. I closed everything I had up, turned the monitor and my speakers off, and totally freaked out. After about 5 minutes of running around, I sat down and turned everything on. Thank goodness, the sound was gone.

Re: Computer Viruses

Meh. I HATE computer viruses. I had one before I had to get my dad to format my PC with Windows 7. He wouldn't let me have it; Every cloud has a silver lining! But it was IRRITATING. It tried to open up command prompt; it even turned off UAC to do it! It also was an MS DOS file (I think it was a .PCF?) - Luckilly I did the right thing and got my local PC expert (namely, my dad  tongue ) to fix it.

I'm back.
Maybe.

Re: Computer Viruses

I got a virus that made a pop-up with *cough* nude people on it, and it installed a bunch of *cough* nude images to my computer.

It also deleted anything on my computer that wasn't encrypted.

Very weird Trojan, no?

You Americans must've been brought up by stereotypes!
Anyway, FileCure says that the file is important to a program and deletion isn't suggested, but what program?

My norton thinks that everything is a virus.
At least it used to before it expired.
