I know this is a kids site, but some of us are older and don't want to be flagged every single time we mention a slightly inappropriate word. I'm thinking, maybe a place where the mildest language is allowed? 😈

No, there's no way they could control who goes on which section so Scratch would no longer be safe for all ages, especially for things like schools.

I guess that makes sense, but just mild language. Not like full out. Some people get away with it on the main site.

No, even mild language is not allowed. If you can't find a way to keep the message appropriate, you probably shouldn't say it at all.

I guess I'll just need to modify some stuff. 😌

How about we all say inappropriate words like [removed by moderator] so that they ban all of us :p

Don't purposely post bad words.
And Scratch will never have ratings, from what I know. Just NFE.

i saw a preview for a site using scratchr once that seemed like a place more fit for older people but unfortunately it was taken down
i think the idea is nice though, besides the fact that children could easily get to it

Nothing, really. All we do is make the site not safe for younger people to view.
It was actually a rhetorical question, but oh well.

i do think its kind of futile to censor inappropriate words because kids inevitably see and hear them anyway

Are you suggesting the censor be removed completely? I don't think that's a great idea. We need to keep this site appropriate for all ages as much as possible, and the censor does a pretty good job. For the few people that try cheating it, they get warned, and banned if they continue.

no
but what i am saying is that it isn't a life or death situation if kids see any bad words
i believe mild language is ok. no swear words, but things like cr**, and "omg" are ok with me

That's what I'm trying to say! Kids are exposed to things such as MTV and *ahem* school, where crude language is said. I'm just sick of censoring myself. I think a lot of the older people on Scratch would appreciate it, because we can't do words like da** or cr** or he** or even do some decent blood animations.

Not innapropiate words! Just mild language and some blood. Because a lot of people are quitting because this site is way too strict and somewhat childish.

Mild language - no
Blood - to a certain extent, but it will probably be marked as NFE

+1
As I said earlier: Instead of saying bad language, you can say words like "darn" instead, which still get the point across but they aren't bad words.

Exactly. My only problems with the censor are that it censors "grapes" (on the main site, last time I checked,) which I find to be a little disturbing, and that everything gets censored into *, instead of [Removed], or something like that...

You can create blood in projects, just not excessive amounts of gore.
I'm pretty sure you can say Hell (don't use it in innapropiate context, however), but that's about it. You can use 'cleaner' version of most swears, as said above, like darn.
