Just an area for free discussion on your personal favorite console. This doesn't include handhelds, just for the record. No this isn't for arguing which is the BEST, it's just your favorite. Don't criticize other's opinions, and have fun!
My personal favorite is the Gamecube with SNES as a close second.
I love the Gamecube because some of my favorite games of all time are on it. It has Tales of Symphonia with it's excellent multiplayer, combat and story, Super Smash Bros Melee that is a great multiplayer party game with excellent mechanics, and also Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, which has an excellent combat system, story, music, graphics and humor.
The SNES is a close second because of it's great JRPGs like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy III/VI, (which I haven't played yet), or other great games like Super Mario World, Super Metroid and the legendary Earthbound (which I sadly, have not played).
What are your favorites?

The only two I've ever had, GameCube and Xbox 360.

I agree with you; I'd pick either the SNES or GameCube.

So? I've played games from both, and they're my favourites.

Uh, they can be. Have you not heard of, for example, Steam?

Would you point to a computer that's running steam and say "Look there, it's a gaming console."?

I'd point to a computer not running Steam and say it's a gaming console. If it can play a wide variety of complex games, I see no reason to believe it's not one.

A back scratcher can be used to pick your nose. Does that make it a nose picker?
I human can pick up a rock. Does that make him/her a rock lifter?

You're completely missing the point here.
Some computers are made specifically for playing games. And even if they're not, that's still one of the intended purposes—to run software, which is what games are. Case in point, a computer can be called a video game console.
