I assume were arguing over the Surface and the iPad. Or is it iOS versus Windows 8?

How do you compare an OS and a tablet?

You don't. That's what we're saying.

If you mean iOS6 vs. Win8, iOS6.
If you mean iPad4 vs. a Win8 tablet, the Win8 tablet (once you put Win7 or Android on it)
iOS6 beats Win8 RT for app availability, reliability, good looking, familiarity, and pretty much everything.
iPad 4 wins Win8 tablet. The iPad 4 has the retina display remember? That's even higher res than full HD.
Unless the Win8 tablet is x86, then, it wouldn't be a fair competition.

iOS vs Win8, I agree. Win8 sucks.
I couldn't care less about retina display. It is just a gimmick. You can't see details small enough to take advantage of the extra pixels.
x86 is too power-hungry for tablets IMO, though it will always have a performance advantage. But even if the Win8 tablet has a Tegra3, it still will outperform the A6X (iPad 4's CPU, for people out of the loop).

Actually, I've heard that the retina display is really cool.

The Nexus 7 uses the lowest end T3 (the T30L, which runs at 1.2Ghz, compared to 1.4 (T30) or 1.6Ghz (T33)). If you take the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity (T33-based)....... you will see it scores 2024 on Geekbench. Remember that the iPad 4 got a 1757.
Tegra 3 wins.
@stevetheipad: On a 17 inch screen, a Retina Display may be worth it. But on a 10" screen, it is just a gimmick.

I don't think you get the point of the Retina display. It's about density, so a 17" Retina would have a much larger resolution than a 10" Retina display. And you have no idea how crisp things look on a retina display.
And the A6X has better graphics than the Tegra on the Asus.

They both stink.
Windows 8 is just made by lazy Microsoft developers, and it's been just about half a year since the new iPad. I believe these upgrades are worthless, pointless, and a waste of money.

Yea, I realized that after I posted.... Really, the resolution of the iPad4 would be more than enough for just about anything up to like 25"
Ok, fine. T3 wins for CPU, A6X for GPU.
@Checkitnow: Uh, the iPad 4 came out November 2nd. Less than a month ago.

If you want to save money, get the product every other year, so now it'll be a large upgrade for you, and you save money.

I'm assuming Retina is as an upgrade from 1080p, as 1080p is as an upgrade from 720p, right?

Wait, when did the iPad 4 come out? And didn't the iPad 3 just come out earlier this year?
