Scratch 2.0 and iMac

Hi, my family is all apple. We have one window computer, but we aren't ever allowed to use it (by we I mean the kids).

I have heard iDevices won't be able to do Scratch? :'( Is this true? If it is, Scratch 2.0 isn't worth it if it limits the people allowed to play.

Re: Scratch 2.0 and iMac

It won't be allowed on anything that doesn't support flash (iPods,iPads, etc...), but iMac's and Macbook's can run flash, and therefore run Scratch.

If you can view the project, you can make the project (for 2.0)

Re: Scratch 2.0 and iMac

It's ok. And yes, since an iMac is not actually an iDevice, but rather a Macintosh, it will be able to run Scratch 2.0 fine. Better than a Windows computer would may I add ^^"

I have special access to the alpha of 2.0 and it works great on my iMac  big_smile

technically, that's not true. the implementation of flash on macs is notoriously more buggy and insecure than the windows version. source source source

this isn't really relevant but uh whatever
don't mind me

Re: Scratch 2.0 and iMac

I was talking about 2.0, not flash, which has been very buggy on windows 7 in alpha tests so far, even bsods and stuff.

Re: Scratch 2.0 and iMac

This made me think about something: Will Scratch 2.0 only run on Mac computers that have the Snow Lepord (Or whatever it's called) update? Because I haven't been able to do an increasing number of things on the family Mac because we don't have that update for Mac...

Re: Scratch 2.0 and iMac

Don't let this turn into a Windows vs Macs debate.

Does the Snow Leopard update have something to do with updating Adobe Flash? Because if it does, then yes, but if it doesn't then probably not.

Re: Scratch 2.0 and iMac

iMacs aren't iDevices. iDevices are iPads, iPods, iPhones, etc.

It wasn't buggy at all for me.

It will work on all OSX versions afaik.
