Re: G:Cities Development Blog- Constructing Freedom

December 6th 2012: God Mode- a new terraform-ation!

That's right! The God Mode has been transformed into a cool new system that will allow you to actually sculp your landscape instead of simply placing single-tiled 2D icons. Let's go through the improvements.

If we don't conserve water we could go from one ex-stream to another.

Rivers and ponds can be made to look more realistic, using the beaches provided to smoothen the edges, and help them blend in with the surrounding landscape. Also, you will even be able to place waterfalls! More on that later.

A mountain is a hill with attitude.

With the new tools, you will be able to increase the height of the terrain and build structures on there. As mentioned earlier, you will be able to place waterfalls on the cliffs of mountains. You can place roads going in the direction of the slope as well.

Canyons can be gorge-ous.

You can also remove sloping edges and leave the cliff-edges exposed to create steep valleys and canyons. Remember: waterfalls go on cliffs, and road ramps go on slopes. Hydro-electric power stations must be built on waterfall tiles.

The best news...
In no less than a week (depending on how long is needed to debug the program) a BETA Landscape editor will be available online, which will replicate the God Mode for Generation: Cities. I'm looking for lots of constructive feedback!

The Graphics...

Don't worry, in the demo you will not have to create the landscape using numbers. There will be a user interface that will allow you to create it with button-clicking. That 'epic' list was created so that I could remember which was which, and believe me, it's tough creating a landscape with numbers!

April 22nd 2013: Constructing Freedom

One issue with previous games was that they were fairly limited in the number of buildings available. This new game will fix that by offering a lot more buildings to place. the list will be extended along with new pictures added to show off the most recent graphics.

CURRENT BUILDINGS LIST:
