This is why you get a Nexus 7.  tongue

But I'll bet it's part of Apple's planned obsolescence scheme.

It's a trap!

Most iPads do end up glitching out after a while anyway, or stop working in some area. Like I still have my iPad 1, but now it's getting much slower and choppier, especially when browsing. My dad isn't having those problems with his iPad 3, so yeah.

Luckily though I got a Nexus 7 for Xmas and I'm loving it to death.  smile  Probably never getting an iPad again.

I got my iPad 2 the day it came out and it's never had any big issues at all...I'll probably end up keeping it or giving it to a friend because it won't be worth anything when I purchase my next upgrade (maybe iPad 5 or 6).

Re: Apple Official Topic

That's another problem with planned obsolescence; in the space of a few years, your device, along with becoming obsolete, becomes worthless.

here is what apple is: a company that copies other companies, puts a pretty face on their products, and mark them up at insanley high prices. Most people disagree, but i am a firm microsoft believer. surface owns the ipad and it will surpass it some day.

Fixed  smile

And I'm sure the Surface has potential, but at the moment it's a losing battle.

1. Surface has less apps.
2. Surface has unintuitive UI that many people will find hard to pick up and use.
3. Surface costs more if you want the case typing thingy (which is really cool btw)
4. Surface RT is reasonably priced but cannot run regular windows apps, which defeats the purpose of a Windows tablet.
5. Surface Pro is expensive enough to be in the ultrabook category, but doesn't deliver in regards to battery life, performance, expandibility etc.

That's my summary of the surface products, really cool, but doomed to fail.

Re: Apple Official Topic

1. Because all developers are Apple fanboys
2. People don't like change. The UI is excellent.
3. As is an iPad case thingy.
4. Then get the Pro.
5. Yes it does.

Re: Apple Official Topic

I came to a realization recently about how Apple's decision to release the retina display MacBook as an option was a poor decision. When Apple made the iPhone with Retina Display, it was the iPhone. Developers were forced to update to the retina display or be left behind. Now, with this as an optional (and expensive) upgrade, developers are far less inclined to update their apps to the retina display.  hmm

I think I would run it in high-res mode rather than high-dpi mode though ;P

And it falls back to non retina  when it's not retina, so...

Err, no, it's the other way round. Yes, Apple patents a lot of things and sues a lot of companies, but that's only because other companies keep on copying them. Seriously, just look at the standard design for laptops and phones before the Macbook and iPhone came out. Then suddenly, when they did come out, everyone started using their designs instead. I'm sure someone's done a picture graph to show it, but I don't have one.

That's just one major example.

Historically, it's been the other way around, but clearly with the iphone 5 and ipad mini they've been playing catch-up. But some people are obnoxious, saying that any thin and light laptop is a ripoff of the MBA, etc. Just saying, but you'll notice all of these "catch up" products ave been made after Jobs died...

A lot of Apple's products have been inspired by other things, usually prototypes and proof of concept items, but others are pure innovation. The iPhone 5 and iPad Mini weren't as innovative and astonishing as some of the other Apple products, as this video says, Apple is human too.  tongue

And Apple have definitely opened up whole new markets with products like the iPad, iPhone, iMac, Macbook Air etc.

Even the first Apple computer was the first 'PC'.

Well there was once pure innovation, but that's talking about before humans, before the dinosaurs... Yeah, a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

All innovation is based on something already existing, so pure innovation, is just the pure form of innovating based on something already existing  tongue
