I'm pretty sure they're already done with 2.0, just too stubborn to release it, they'll only release 2.0 after 2.1 comes out, probably.

The ST says that Scratch 2.0 will come out before 2013 but most of us accept that this is unrealistic (the ST were saying that it would come out in August originally).

Originally they aimed to release it in 2010, actually. Just ask them.
But it's very closed to finished now, it'll come out before May.

They've built it, but if they released if now they'd get flooded by bug complaints and incomplete features like the vector paint editor.

Why would the scratch team purposely delay it? The whole reason they're doing this is to help kids learn, and them doing that wouldn't help.

I think it was supposed to originally come out at the beginning of 2012. I don't get why they don't just open up Scratch Alpha To the public. They opened it up for a few days a while ago. Some people were lucky to get the source for it, so they are some people who have it.
