Their new policy changes have caused much controversy, even after they reverted to the old terms of service.
Apparently, users are more concerned than flattered that their uploaded images may be used by the company at any time for any purpose without notification or compensation.

I want an Instagram, and I probably won't get one for a couple years.
So, I found out my mom got Instagram while getting an app from Cloud. I went to my dad and asked, "What's Instagram?" pretending to be clueless, seeing if I could persuade him. "It's like Facebook, but no age limit." he replied, "Your mom got it." I said, "Oh yeah, some of my friends have it. Looks cool!"
And then my dad was like, "No Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook for you... Yet. Maybe when you're 13." I nodded and left.
Inside I was like
NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
So that's the reason I won't have an Instaagram for the next two years.

Hardly anyone actually pays attention to that though
I know at least 5 of my friends who have an instagram account who are only 11-12.
