I think so too :P

I can't wait. But people shouldn't be able to edit the cloud data
One thing that I reeally hope for in Scratch 2.0 is cloud data being real time. If cloud data is real time, that will allow for the creation of MMOGs!!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure that only the creator of a project is allowed to directly edit the project's cloud data - otherwise, only scripts that the project creator has made can add or change the values.
Though I don't how fast cloud data updates. I know people have been able to make chat projects with it on the testing website, so it updates at a reasonable pace, but I haven't tested to see how quickly it updates.

I have a question. Why would the ST allow chat in 2.0 if one of the top rules on scratch is no chat. It is even worse when it is in a project, because there is no way to ban. Also, people could have fake names.
People could also talk people, which leads to gossip, which is also not allowed on Scratch.

You mean the Scratch Team.

Exciting things! I'm super happy about the screen refresh stuff. It'd be cool if auto screen refresh could be toggled on/off, and then there was an individual block that caused a screen refresh.
[screen refresh (off/on)]
[refresh screen]
When a project has cloud variables, and is popular, and someone decides to look at the code for the project, can they see the stored cloud data? That could be a problem if projects had logins and such. (Tho I can actually think of ways to prevent that, but it's still a nuisance.)
But yeah. Looking forward to 2.0! x3

It's possible to see the cloud data if you "see inside" a project.
However, there's no need for passwords, as you can assign a "user id" to each person, and retrieve data for that person only when the user id matches.

Awesome! That means that you can save used data. This is actually scary huge in terms of potential, then. You could make an MMO!

I heard that they were planning not to allow it when 2.0 is released; but it's OK just among testers.

You can force screen refresh with [wait (0) secs].

It's expected at early 2013.
Earlier they were saying 2011!

with the ID block, would it be possible to do mean stuff like make it impossible to play the game again if you make a mistake once via banlists?
I assume that lots of people would create projects involving chatrooms, which would probably be unmoderated, and could easily be spammed.
All the potential issues = programming game drama = fun! I'm excited

It will be possible.

I'm interested in any 2.0 server changes that allow me, a computer science teacher, to manage classes of student Scratchers (4-8th graders). We use one account, but it's been unwieldly with 32 kids. Will we be able to run our own Scratch site with this release?
Really looking forward to the possibilities with 2.0.

So cloud variables are basically data banks for, say, highscores and such?

Yep.

could projects assign each player a character? so that the project would have multiple sprites that could be controlled, and different players could use different ones?
