This belongs here because you study algebra - which is close to reading. However, I made this text so it could belong to MaC. Mods decide pls.
Algebra isn't complicated at all if you go from the start and know what Algebra basically is. Many early math students hate algebra when they realize that they are doing it, but you may not know that you are doing Algebra - even when you start doing maths! Algebra means replacing numbers in a sum with letters, or for earlier math classes; symbols like stars or squares. I'm not math teacher, but I find it easy to understand algebra, and maybe I could help you understand it too if you're struggling with it.
To begin with, an algebra sum is only possible if it follows these guidelines:
It has to have at least one number.
If all the numbers in the sum are letters, at least one has an obvious value.
The answer is equal to the sum.
It follows other basic sum rules.
If it breaks these rules, it either needs to be fixed or you'll need to find values as long as there is an answer. No point if you get x + y = 2c
However, if you learn about nth term or position to term rules, you might find an exception for that.
The next thing I'll talk about is sum presentation. Add, minus and equals stay the same, as well as brackets and powers. However, multiply and divide are different. First, theres multiply. If you saw the example I gave earlier on, you'll notice that I put 2c. This means 2 x c, or c x 2. If using a number and a letter together, you'll need to put them side by side, the number always first. If multiplying a number, then it's the normal way, 2 x 2. Don't get them mixed up.
Divide is different too. Instead of 2 / 2, we do it as a fraction, only the dividing line is straight, not slanted. One more thing about presentation, in the example I gave you, I also made the x look different. That's because I could easily get an x mixed up with a multiply sign - so I slanted it (using the italic BBCode).
I hope I helped you understand algebra that bit more, and if you're reading this for fun, I hope you enjoyed my guide. If you need to know anything else about algebra, then feel free to tell me - I'll try my best to help you.

When lots of people hear the word 'algebra,' they automatically think 'oh noez, it's algebra,' and they don't want to hear any more about it, when in fact it's not that hard at all.

I mean simple algebra, like 5y+13=8y+3 or something like that. When most people in my class at school see that, they just don't want to try to do it.

Algebra isn't always about finding numerical answers, though. As a simple example, the quadratic formula is an important non-numerical result.

really
that is sorta dumb
but you do realize that is a linear equation, I believe

ugh that was a complicated post
i need things in small pieces to satisfy my small brain
but i've already learnt it so whatever

We're doing algebra in school
I got accused of cheating by the teacher today because I got 100% on a test

Im not sure what that means, but I do know y = 3.33333etc. Im am not a fan of algebra, but I do like to think I'm barely understanding this. (Im almost done with and I'll be doing Geometry next year or so.)

Pfhaha, that's implying that she wants you to stop getting good grades. What a great teacher.

bun the witch :]
is s/he like me? my kin-in-mind have travelled all other the world
okay quick test:
1 does s/he have a box of matches and stack of kindling wood
2 does s/he always have dough
3 does s/he grit her teeth a lot
4 is s/he irresistibly charming

Geometry is bossome with all the sines and funky junk like that.
Algebra is fun too.
I'm doing precal right now and it's kind of fun, although not as much as geo.
@neil why do you have rollin' and scratchin' and deadmau5 in the same pic? rollin' and scratchin' is by Daft Punk.
Edit: ahh I see it links to dp's song.

I miss numbers! I'm good at numbers! I remember when math actually consisted of numbers! xD Now it's all just definitions, theorems, postulates and proofs. xP
Cool. I'm doing precal next year. c:

Luckly a lot of precal and even geometry can be done with a calculator.
@mythbuster Factoring polynomials of those are hard at all. You just have to understand them and their rules. It is pretty much that way with all math.
Give me any polynomial and I will factor it.

I did. It was really really easy that I pretested out of every chapter. Currently I'm in pre-calc/trig.
Wow, what grade are you in? Surely not ninth...
I'm in ninth grade working on Geometry.
