I have been looking into the Central Authentication Service, what Scratch 2.0 will use to authenticate. However, it appears that I need to install special software on the server and can't just use raw PHP code for it.
So, will there be an authentication API for Scratch 2.0 I can use instead? My sites that use the current API are mostly hosted on various web hosts that don't let me install special software.

I am almost certain there will be an API, since the directory /api exists and there have been sources rumouring an improved connection service. I don't see why they shouldn't include user authentication in it.
