Scratch 2.0 (Squeak version)

Scratch 1.4 is in squeak, and Scratch 2.0 will be/is in flash.  The squeak version is to be completely abandoned by the scratch team.  Is there any technical reason that any features of Scratch 2.0 could not be implemented into scratch 1.4, squeak version, to become Scratch 2.0 offline?

Re: Scratch 2.0 (Squeak version)

i don't think so, but it'd take a lot of time and effort to port it
i think that the flash and C++ versions (C++ being itchy++) and possibly a javascript one in the future should be enough

Re: Scratch 2.0 (Squeak version)

I never heard of 2 being ported to squeak. As veggie says, three is enough :p

Re: Scratch 2.0 (Squeak version)

1.4 was ported to flash, and new features are being added.  Making 2.0 would only require adding the new features to 1.4, meaning a lot less work.  I have time (every so often) and effort, and think it would be cool to keep 1.4 up to date with 2.0, if possible.  Then, I could pick and choose certain features that don't have an effect on the .sb file, for example, the ugly colors of the blocks in 2.0, (although those might be editable, potentially) and improve those parts.  The only thing would be if projects would be able to be uploaded or not.

Re: Scratch 2.0 (Squeak version)

Thank you MrFlash, TRocket.

Mathwizz, 1.4 was ported to flash, and then other features were added.  Why is port the wrong word?
What, specifically, would be hard?
