The Beatles

Oh man, time to discuss the band that got me really into music.

In preschool, our teacher showed us the song "Yellow Submarine" for a project, i fell in love with the song, I'd listen to it every day. I loved it that much.

I liked the Beatles a bit until Late 2010. It was about 5 years after I first heard Yellow Submarine, and my dad showed me some songs. I fell alot in love to their masterpieces, and I had a Beatles obsession for about three months.

Anyways, my favorite Beatles songs in no order are And I Love Her ( So beautiful, I love to listen to this on plane flights at night  tongue  ) Across The Universe, Mother Natures Son, Back in the USSR, Yellow Submarine, Come Together, and With A Little Help From My Friends.

Discuss.  big_smile

Re: The Beatles

There is another beatles topic already, but we might as well use this topic for discussing our  favourite songs  big_smile

My favourite song would have to be "While my guitar gently weeps", that's awesome, plus a lot of other songs like Back in the USSR, Abbey Road Medley, I will, early hit singles like She Loves You, later masterpieces like Hey Jude.  tongue

Re: The Beatles

I was almost sure this topic was by jji at first.  tongue

Man, I've been a hardcore Beatles nut for years now - I know their music inside and out. My favorite songs would probably be "I'm Only Sleeping", "I Am the Walrus", "Every Little Thing", "Yer Blues", "Helter Skelter", "Cry Baby Cry", "The Word", "Not a Second Time", "You Can't Do That", "Strawberry Fields Forever", "Lovely Rita", and "It's All Too Much".

I don't think the Beatles had a bad song - I actually do like "Revolution 9". xD

A bad song by the Beatles? Let me think... nah  tongue

And I know every beatles song, and can recognise each one by name, just be listening to the first few seconds of it  lol

Re: The Beatles

Since this is about The Beatles, I must bring up an interesting point:

While Beatles and Rolling Stones fans are huge rivals, the two groups were actually close friends, to the point of dropping in on the the other's recording sessions. Some of the backup vocals in their songs were actually done by the other band.

You will now be subconsciously trying to figure out which songs have them when you listen to their songs, even if you aren't trying to.

It's like the Toby and Pewdie fan wars. They're actually very good friends.

I'm pretty sure that the Stones sang backup on "All You Need is Love", among others.

@veggie - I can't believe I forgot "Rain" or "Baby, You're a Rich Man". Also, which version of "Across the Universe" do you consider the dumb one? The Wildlife one or the Phil Spector version?

Toby and Pewdie (whoever they may be) are like The Beatles and Rolling Stones, not the other way around.

Anyway, I really like The Beatles. All of their stuff is pretty good. When I was younger I really liked Hard Day's Night. I like Something, which is one of the best love songs ever, IMO. Some of my other favorites are Revolution, Ticket To Ride, and Let It Be. I have no real reason for liking the first too, but I think Let It Be is very powerful. I'd say my absolute favorite song by them currently is Hey Jude but it can change.

I went to a Beatles cover band when i was nine, and they let a few people sing Hey Jude, and i was one of them (hey i answered a quiz question right and got a free t-shirt and acted like a huge fanboy) but i had a sore throat  sad

They only "let" a few people sing?

Like, in the Live Beatles version everybody sang the last 3 minutes.

Like, in the Live Beatles version everybody sang the last 3 minutes.

Kids could sing on stage of they wanted too.

But seriously, why has no body given a opinion on Mother Nature's Son? Out of their underrated gems, it's the best. It relaxes myself alot.

I found a White Album puzzle once.
Freaking reversable too.

In case you want to do a different side of the entirely white puzzle.

Re: The Beatles

I think Side 3 of The White Album is probably the Beatles' heaviest, what with Yer Blues, Birthday, Helter Skelter, and Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey.

Then again, a lot of Beatles songs from 1968 were rather heavy.
