I like Microsoft Flight Simulator (now just Microsoft Flight) better, but yeah, this is more realistic.

Hold down the Page Up key for a while, then hold down the mouse and slowly drag it downwards. You should be able to figure it out from there.

I like it, but FlightGear seems to have more realistic physics, whereas MS Flight is much easier to control.

I went to a Hobby Town USA a week ago and they had an AWESOME flight simulator there that you could try out. It was way better than Google Earth's.
