Re: iScratch Training Courses- read the first post!

Alright, I think my course is shaping up well. If you want, you can add it to the main post:

3D Wireframe Modeling
This course teaches you how to create and display a 3D wireframe model in Scratch. We will optimize the renderer, and then create our own 3D file format which allows us to define complex models. In this course, I'll try not to give you any code, since you learn more by coding yourself. I'll just explain and give you pseudo codes, so you need to be extremely fluent with Scratch.

Prerequisites:
- Basic understanding of 3D geometry, simple algebra, and trigonometry (just sin, cos and tan functions)
- Good understanding of Scratch, pen blocks, and lists.

eh, what's up with maths??? you can call it that

also, doesn't matter if you can only make a basic OS, I could add that to the basic course, however I think ErnieParke is doing that unless you're prepared to take it on as a completely different course. However, that means you'll ahev to teach both basic and advanced versions, otherwise we won;'t get enough people signing up to it.

Saying that, I don't think we have any students on anything, so I might have to pull the plug on the whole thing if no one actually joins

I'm not British.
I don't get the whole "maths" thing.
Can I teach about lists?

you can't really base an entire course on lists, but you can include it in your maths course! and it's really simple: maths is an abbreviation of mathematics, or arithmetic, the only difference is by one "s" on the end of it. It's like if someone got confused by Scratch Cats and we had to say Scratch Cat instead without the "s". I'm not mocking you by the way, I'm as confused as you are except by this 1 letter. Anyway, I'll be fair and let's all call it maths.

That's not "all being fair."  That's powerplaying.  Let's call it mathematics. [/offtopic]
I can base an entire course on lists.  Watch me.   wink
I was stuck on lists, and I just started with them a few months ago.  It's probably one of the hardest parts of Scratch, so I'll put up projects for anyone who wants one.

okay! I think I'll get rid of dates and you can start whenever, unless you want a specific date then I'll add it to the list.

Maths here in the UK, but when someone says math its not like I don't understand them  tongue  I'd love to watch some of these tutorials if you posted them as videos but I'm currently applying to university (or college if you're not from the UK but thats more confusing than math(s);P ) so I don't have much time to be part of a taught lesson.

Hope all goes well here  smile

Good luck prestige! And that sounds great hard math, although for some reason I doubt you'll get many students  tongue . I'll start when I can, although I'm pretty busy right now so it may be a while...

Re: iScratch Training Courses- read the first post!

I originally wanted to be a teacher... But considering my horrible programming skills (and your lack of students) I decided not to.

So I'd like to sign up as a student.

Oh and: I really think a week is too short. Perhaps new ones start every week, but last 3-4 weeks?

And is it too late to join Super Platform Adventures (10/5-12)? If not, I'd like to join.

That and Super Building Engine (10/12-19).

...
And everything in November.

Now I feel so stupid in Scratch.

But I guess I am.

Re: iScratch Training Courses- read the first post!

I can start my course this week, I have plenty of time. I'm going to be gone next week, though, so we should either get started quick or wait until November.

Re: iScratch Training Courses- read the first post!

I can probably start my course this week. However, it seems people want to do it in November so maybe we should wait? I could probably prepare some projects beforehand so that I'd be ready when November/the time I want to have my course comes around.

Additional things I would try to cover:

Curves: How to draw mathematical curves, mostly requires trig (this would be one of the later things).

Additional (non platform) physics:
        Cannons,  arrows, etc.
        Water physics
Walljumping (aside from basic platformer bases)
Physics you might have for an object in a game (like a thrown item)
Possibly 3D physics? (Things including resizing and the z axis.)

And I could probably cover a lot more. I don't know though, so I guess I can just make some tutorial projects. Should this be for the absolute beginner?

Re: iScratch Training Courses- read the first post!

sorry I haven't been bumping this recently, i think what I'll do is change the style. basically, a teacher fills in this:

COURSE NAME: (What you're teaching).
DESCRIPTION: (The process involved in learning this, as well as further detail into what is being taught).
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED? (If this is something like a trigonometry course, will the student need a medium/high math understand before joining)?
DATE: (What week(s) you're doing this on).

Then I will add it to the main list. You can have each one for as long as you want, and there are a lot less restrictions. Enjoy!
