I know of an ancient form of punctuation that's pretty interesting: It works like. a period is a comma. a colon is a period. three dots is a paragraph break. and 4 is a chapter or something:. It's actually pretty cool. once you get used to it::
You have no idea how painful that is to read.

What are you talking about: This is. clearly. not any more or less painful than our system. however. you are not adapted to it: The users of this system would think ours is painful:...

Actually. I write like that often: It's pretty cool to play around with and stuff:.
Of course. I'm not fully adapted to it so I sometimes make silly mistakes. but it's really fun::

Letters aren't punctuation!!!!11
1, however, technically is, because it is on occasion used as punctuation, and unorthodoxfully so

Apparently the front part of this topic was the little grey square topic.
sometimes when i get really bored i write like this
no apostrophes
newlines for commas or periods
no shouting
its actually kind of fun once you get rid of the instinct
to capatalize
and commapostrophie-itize
even though its very slightly creepy

Asterisks are used more often than daggers as footnotes, however daggers are still used in modern culture today - but double daggers woud be the equivalant of two asterisks in a footnote - though two asterisks are more favoured.
I think.

i remember when i didn't know there were different rules for using commas, and that something called the oxford comma existed.
it was a bliss a existance

Generally what I've seen is
*
then
**
then
†
then
‡
If they're going to use any more than that, they usually just switch to superscript numbers.

True, true. I don't see **** really, though, as people might confuse it with censorship.

i've seen "*" then a little number like with powers a few times.
but i think the irony mark and such are more confusing than useful.
