Guys don't wear fedoras.
There are tumblr blogs dedicated to mocking people who think they look good in fedoras!

if you wanna get into the specifics it's an old pagan celt tradition where the creatures of the other worlds would come to haunt the current world for a night
to stop them from taking you or something you'd dress up as one of them
with the advent of christianity it started dying and only existed in small areas where the celts once inhabited
but in america at some point they revived it for some unknown reason

The trick to wearing a fedora is to lean it forward over your brow. Also don't look like a twenty-something hipster moron (or girl/younger person trying to be edgy and cool).

America just needs excuses for candy.
And half the time they skip the excuses.

I gotta admit, you're right about that. X]
But I think it's more (for me, at least) about having fun with your friends - like, laughing at how ridiculous everyone looks in their costumes.
I'm going as a punk, by the way.

Long hair also contributes to the coolness. Not rockstar long, just half an inch longer than a normal hairstyle for men.
