A few days ago, my teacher asked the class "We're going to use Publisher to do our brochure. Is anyone computer savvy and know how to use it?"
Sadly, I have the home and student version of MS Office, so I didn't have it, so I said.
"I don't have it, but could I use Gimp? It's free, and better than publisher."
And the teacher decided it's ok

I recently went on my forums (punbb-hosted) during school, and I got like 7 people asking me if that was my website and how I made it.
Also, I got bored during computer lab so I made a pointless Word document with alt codes and everyone around me asked how I did that.

alt codes?
Anyway, yeah, my friend is like "COME OVER TO MY HOUSE NOW AND SHOW ME SCRATCH" and I'm like "Uh...okay..." and then I start talking about other languages and he is completely lost until I mention how I make websites.

My friend's forums got messed up and I start telling her the html to fix it (she edited the templates on her punbb hosted forum without knowing what to do and messed up the css) and she was totally confused.

YES.
Knowledge is power. The people who know how to program will be kings and annoying little siblings will be slaves!

I just did my 6th grade computer class last quarter.
Basically we just practiced typing and had free time.
