He said he wanted to fly by the end of the school year, and it's not even the start of the school year.

Hey, plenty of people say that kids can't program but just look at us.

As some more advice, I recommend looking up a bit about the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association). They are obviously involved in making their own aircraft, but they also do many community outreach programs. See if your area has a Young Eagles flight. I went on one, and it was a great experience. They had a bunch of small planes (maybe 6 seats?) that they let people ride/fly for free! I got to control a bit on my flight, but as much as anything I was examining the cockpit to see what was similar to FSX. They also have all sorts of educational material to get people on an actual course to becoming a pilot.

If you live in the Wisconsin area they also manage AirVenture Oshkosh, the largest gathering in the world.
