Quake Live is basically a port of the 1999 classic FPS Quake III Arena. It has some minor differences; they game was changed from an M rating to a T rating, due to removing a lot of the violence and blood, and maps have some minor tweaks, but it's basically the same game.
The game is free to play (revenue is gained by advertisements) and doesn't even require a software download. The game runs in your web browser through a downloadable plugin. Web browsers that are currently supported are Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, and Google Chrome.
I really like this game; it's incredibly fun and has a lot of great game modes (free for all, team deathmatch, capture the flag, and more). I highly recommend joining it.
So discuss Quake Live.

Sounds cool; I'll try it later. But how do they remove enough violence to affect the rating from an FPS like Quake?

Used to play it, not now though.
I played Quake III before Live too
EDIT: @maxskywalker iirc they pretty much removed blood, I dunno if characters still gib from explosions, but I think not

I've played it once or twice, but my PC couldn't handle it.

The blood was removed, as well as the gore and satanic references.
