Sprites and backgrounds

How do I change backgrounds without having the sprites move into the new one.

when you tell your background to change write this script

For the background

Broadcast [hide v]
and

For the sprites
when I recieve [hide v]
hide
Sorry I'm not that good with scratch blocks[
the 'when I receive' block can be found in the control category
