There are many scratch mods out there. All of them were created by people who are experienced coders. When you think about this, and the fact that they're mods of scratch, it makes no sense. Scratch makes programming easier. So why not make a scratch mod that allows you to make mods easily? That is what this is all about.
My idea is this:
Make a mod that allows you to make mods quickly and easily. Just drag the blocks and features you want into a space, paint or import some icons, logos, and a default sprite and hit a button! And out comes a .zip folder with you mod!
How cool is that? Of course, making this will not be easy. I need the most experienced coders. I need people who know the scratch source code better than the back of their hand. (Not like the back of their hand. Better than it.) And if we find these people: the dedicated, hard working, super coder people, then this could be the biggest thing that ever happened on scratch since Misc was taken away (
).
So what are you waiting for? Start helping the MODify project!
So... How can you help? Well, you need to sign up at the bottom. When you sign up you need to link to one or more of the mods you made or helped make. That way I can know that you qualify for this project. Because it's a biggie.
So sign up now to help create the best mod yet: MODify.
(Sorry about the huge chuck of text that, when measured, is actually longer than The Great Wall Of China.)
EDIT: Here's an email I sent to chanmanpartyman a few days ago:
Hey, Chan! It's PullJosh! I got another idea for a mod. It's another super-hard one, but you seem like the best person for the job. I was wondering if you wanted to program it. Here's the idea: We could make a mod called MODify (or maybe just plain modify). Instead of making projects it would allow you to make scratch mods. We make a bunch of different blocks. Then, you drag all the blocks you want in your mod into where you code usually is. In the costumes tab, It would be changed to the features tab. You could select different features you want. The sounds tab would be changed to the custom code tab. It would have a copy of the browser in it. Then you could add your own custom code. Where you would usually view a project would be a preview of your mod. Under that, where the thumbnails go, you would be able to type the description that would be put in a .txt file that is placed in the .zip folder that is you mod. Speaking of that, the green flag would be replaced with a "Make My Mod!" button. It would then take all the info and save you mod in a .zip file.
So, like I said, it'll be very hard to make, but I think it's worth it. Tell me if you want to help!
But chan said he couldn't help. That's why I'm hoping to get you.

Hey, thanks! I really want this so I can program easier.
Edit: Isn't that cheating? :3
Just a reminder I won't be on Scratch that much but I 'll still be here, so if i'm on something, I will be commenting back, okay!

I am working on your mod... Um.. Don't you already know the link? The ONLY thing I can do is make graphics... So I'll choose graphics... Um.. Do I have to choose a job?

Could you be the signature advertiser? You could make multiple sigs for different people. Tell me if that sounds okay.

Wow, great mod. I am not an experienced programmer, but I know a phew people who are. Try asking Bstewerd (not sure is that is how you spell it) or Jens. They created BYOB. There are amazing coders.

What do you mean by "Perhaps you could use it online"?

Like Scratch 2.0. That will be online.

I could be a tester. (I guess). I can find any bug there is. (BTW: you could also be able to design your own background for the mod. Also, we should have is so that people can't have the word Scratch in it.)

How about you being a tester and an idea person? You seem good at both.

I don't think so. If we finish it and somebody wants to make it available online they are free to do so, but I don't think that's going to happen.

I like a lot this idea.

That would be pretty hard. I think you should make a separate image with no connection to--- scrap that. Just go ahead with it!

Okay, so here is an idea. We could put a button on the top of the Scratch Blocks saying "Create a Block." Then, when you click that, a window pops up with a big open space in it. Then you can drag and drop blocks into that big open space. Then you choose what Category it is in, then what the block will say. And boom, you have one block done.
Also, at the top, we could replace the share button with the word "Finished?". When you click that, it will lead you to a place where you name your mod and describe it. Then you click a button saying "Done", and there is a link to your new mod.
One more thing, we should write a Wiki Page about this mod. I am not sure what to call it though.
So, that is my long message.

Sounds a lot like BYOB

BYOB in a nutshell.

I was thinking of something where we have all the block pre-coded (yay!). Then we delete the code that makes the blocks snap together. We also delete the code that makes them re-create themselves (When you start dragging a block, it stays in one spot, but a new one comes to your mouse). Then you drag all the blocks that you want into the scripting pane. If you decide you don't want them you just drag them back. There could also be CYOB. And I guess BYOB would be okay, too. Restrictive, but good for people who are just starting out. In a different tab we would have a copy of the browser (where you code mods normally). That way you can make manual changes that cannot be made with the normal program. That would be in a different tab. We could also have a tab where you drag in features. I would be similar to dragging in blocks, but it would be other things such as making BYOB available in your mod.
Tell me what you think!

I am making a similar thing to this, although I started before this.
My program is being made in Visual Basic 2010, and asks for the name, description, blocks (I am making a block editor) and stuff like that, then when done, will save all the code into a folder, then run the Squeak VM with the Scratch source image. The Scratch image will automatically import all the code and save itself, then exit. Open the .exe in the output folder and it will have your own custom Scratch modification!
I have only made a basic design and started on the block editor though. I am making a lot of things other than this program so I am always busy and everything is going slowly.
