The Apocalypse Quartet

This morning, I was bored so I decided to see if I could write really ugly music.

I came up with the Apocalypse Quartet in B Flat Major.

It is scored for:
1 Flute
1 Violin
1 Accordion
1 C Trumpet

So, if you want to listen to it, go to http://www.mediafire.com/view/?htcdyiwlnwjgymh or http://soundcloud.com/jacob-g-4/sets/th … se-quartet.

For the score, go to http://www.mediafire.com/view/?htcdyiwlnwjgymh.

I was sure it was going to be the Rick Rolled song, but it turns out otherwise.  tongue

Hmm... I really liked that, actually. It sounds like a victory theme from some SNES RPG or something.

Re: The Apocalypse Quartet

I finished writing all three movements. A complete performance is a little over two minutes.

Movement 1: Moderato, B Flat Major
Movement 2: Calmly, C Major
Movement 3: Allegretto, B Flat Major

You can download a recording of my computer playing it at http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?gve2i2qngrsmff8 (WAV) and download the score at http://www.mediafire.com/view/?htcdyiwlnwjgymh (PDF)

You know what? I'm going to use this as the boss music in the game I'm making. It's epic.

The first track is all three movements, the last track is just movement 1.

Re: The Apocalypse Quartet

I just noticed... this song bears some resemblance to what a song in say, pokemon emerald might sound like.

I wouldn't know, I've never played pokemon.
The resemblance is a coincidence.

You should have included trombone/baritone and tuba. They're great for  bass

I chose flute, violin, accordion, and trumpet to make it sound weird.

Re: The Apocalypse Quartet

Very nice... composition?  tongue

I like how instead of the typical sonata form (exposition, development, and recap), you just made it a free form piece that has 3 completely random, wild movements. Despite all the dissonance and cacophony, the piece still gives a feeling of triads (i.e. B-flat major).

Reminds me (somewhat) of Mozart's "A Little Joke," which gives you the feeling (in some parts) that the instruments aren't tuned.  big_smile

I wrote the whole piece as a joke.  tongue
What I did was in Musescore, I put in notes that sounded good when I put them in, but I didn't put them in order.

It only took a few hours. However, if you want to make something good, it will probably take longer.

Re: The Apocalypse Quartet

Some of it was okay, but other than that it was jumbled.

So you achieved your goal.

Seriously, MediaFire? It got the links wrong.  mad
Anyway, I fixed them. The old links were just for the first movement. Now, the links link to all three movements.

lol  I'm using EMC and Musescore to make something, and so far it's going really well! I'm nearly done with the score for the first instrument.  smile
