Scratch Badges?

I was thinking you could get badges on here, then showcase them on your page.
Examples could be like "You got your first view" or "You joined Scratch". Something like that would work.

Re: Scratch Badges?

I think that's a good idea. Scratcher's could also put them in project's if they do a certain task so they get a code they can put in and that gives them the badge. I support!

Re: Scratch Badges?

this would be awesome but we should NOT have badges for high project stats (like love-its, views, favorites). ideas could be: Participated in design studio, was curated, posted 1000 comments, 1000 forum posts, 100 projects uploaded, got a wiki account, etc.

We should avoid having badges for love-its and views because it would be rude to flaunt "hey I got 500 love-its" in front of people who only get 1 or 2 (in my opinion)

Re: Scratch Badges?

I think, as long as it was like a guide for Scratchers to get started on Scratch, and didn't become a competition for experienced members, it would be a good suggestion.

Care would have to be taken to not be confusing though.

Then again, it kinda gets rid of the free expression of Scratch.

Well by that logic showing off that you uploaded 100 projects is just like showing off 100 love-its. And you can always just spam away.

Either way, both of those are completely arbitrary because you could very well have 100 masterpieces or 100 turds, just like a total turd can take 100 love-its, etc.

If anybody gets offended by high project stats then it's their own fault for letting meaningless Internet statistics bother them. If anything it will make them go, "Wow I want that badge I should aspire to get it!"

Jealousy is something everybody has to face, trying to shield them doesn't do them any well.

P.S. I support.
