Actually, there are plenty of good Goombas and Koopas. Bowser has brainwashed the one you see in the game because they've been placed to block Mario's path.
according to ssbm though goombas are outlaws of the mushroom kingdom. either way, in the first game there are go good guys. plus the story is that all the princess's people have been turned to brick which means all the bricks youre smashing are living breathing beings

the story with the goombas is the description for the goomba trophy and the mario story i first saw in a bitf comic. it says the same thing on wikipedia:
One day, King Bowser Koopa, the great and powerful leader of the militaristic Koopa Troop, invades the peaceful Mushroom Kingdom. He and his Koopa Troop are jealous of the beautiful kingdom, and King Bowser decides to take it for himself. To do this, Bowser casts an evil spell upon the kingdom and transforms all of its inhabitants into blocks, weeds, and other peculiar objects. It is foretold that only the Mushroom King's daughter Princess Toadstool can undo the spell. Knowing this, Bowser immediately kidnaps her. Fortunately, the heroic Mario Bros. learn about the Mushroom Kingdom's plight and race to its rescue.
wait a sec who is this "mushroom king"

Agreed. It isn't just movies, it's tv shows and games. mainly video games. The other day, i was at Gamestop to pre-order Mario for the 3ds. I saw a kid who looked like he was in preschool or in the early years of elementary and he was buying BLACK OPS.
My heart cried a little. That is horrible!
1. Where did he get the money
2. Why would his parents let him even let him buy that game!1. IDK
2. Lazy and stupid parents
My guess.
BTW, My cousin's cousin [inception] is 7 and plays Assasin's Creed, and knows all the bad words :[ HATE our new generation.
BTW, My cousin and me HATE violent games. [my cousin is 9, 10 in 2 months]
Yeah, a person I know is in first grade and watches family guy and plays call of duty
*sigh* what is the joy of virtually killing people.

I'm pretty sure that'd be your second cousin.

I don't know about the 1st grader, but it's not that I find joy in killing people. It's the skill, storyline, and game aspect.
Besides it's not killing people it's playing a game.

Precisely. I never thought a bit of soup, a bit of tomato, and a little sentience could speak the truth this well.

Draw faces on chess pieces. Did that game just become excessively violent, sadistic, etc.? Like soupoftomato said, it's about the skill and the strategy. I know a lot of people who play games with some pretty 'bad stuff' in them, and most of them are very empathetic and nice. In my experience, the more involved with their kid and less lazy a parent is, the more over-rated (I'm talking about like under-17 playing M, not well criticized but bad games here) games they play. And either way, we cannot 'shelter' children from so-called 'bad stuff.' The only way that would be possible would be by preventing literally every crime, outlawing history, and literally removing profanity from language itself. I'm not saying that it's okay for 7-year-olds to be play AO games. I'm saying that such has no effect here.

Seriously.
Find any sort of general gaming community and the majority aren't like, "AW YEAH I CAN'T WAIT TO KILL ME SOME MORE PEEPS." If they do address death, their probably talking about the way a death affected the story-line of a game.
And while I can't speak for Call of Duty (it generally is played for the online component), I would say most find the fun in the game not the fact that they are killing people, but the fact that they are using their skill in gaming in a competition.

Some play it for the campaign, although it became less common after the first Modern Warfare.

I did say "generally" and was using generalizing the majority of players to provide my reasoning easier without actually leaving out facts.

I wasn't trying to correct you, I was just pointing it out. Although you are wrong for the earlier games.

funny but disturbing.

Uhm, it was.
You were blatantly disregarding all arguments for playing shooting games and provided an entirely in-equivalent activity as an alternative.

You didn't understand it clearly. I was pointing out that anything you do in a video game is pretty stupid, so what makes shooting any different.
