I don't know if there's a topic about this because I don't really know anything about the Scratch forum but I think there should be an option for you to change your account name. I've seen a few people leave their accounts because they don't like the name they chose and it gets really confusing to have to find their new account. Plus just if someone wanted a new name it would be cool to have a name change button. ^^

It would get kind of confusing if someone changed their name and you didn't know what to, though. Also, what about the links to their projects? They wouldn't work anymore.

Well the links should be automatically changed to fit the new username, and by their username it should say Previously ______. So we'd know what their old name was.

But what if you had one of their projects in your favourites? That would store the old URL.

I was thinking the Scratch Team would be able to have it all updated when the username is changed. But I don't really know much about websites.

We've already discussed this on a topic about a month? ago. We figured out that since projects are stored via username (i.e. scratch.mit.edu/projects/Wes64/2417705) it would take too much time to redirect them all to the new username, and it would just get confusing. Its easier to make another account.

perhaps this would be fine if you had just created an account and had no projects. that way, if you made a typo, you didnt have to close the account but rather simply change the name

What they r trying to say is: this idea will never work, no matter how much we want it to
