I know that people sometimes "necropost": Post on topics that are old.
I heard that this behavior is frowned opon by the community. But why? What's wrong with posting on an old topic?

You've got it all wrong. When something is resolved, don't necropost, it's annoying. When something is dead, and you want to spam, don't necropost. If something is still relevent, hasn't been resolved, and you have something meaningful to post, go ahead and necropost.

I dislike it when it brings up random junk that nobody cares about any more, or when the necropost is spam.

The policy on necroposting is that it is allowed as long as it continues the discussion.
Oh. That makes sense.
