I have had an idea for a better anti-SPAM measure.
On some forums, I have seen CAPTCHAs where you drag a slider to the right. My idea is this simple: you have a hidden form field (i.e. <input type="hidden" />), with a default value of 0 or something.
Then, by clicking the submit button, it triggers JS to change the value to 1.
What does everyone think of this idea?

Interesting, but spammers will catch on easily.

They'll probably catch on to the drag thing, too.

I know. Just saying, they only need to add "&hiddenVar=1" to their spambot's cURL postvars setting, and they've bypassed your security.

True. It's probably similar for the slider one, too.

Since when am I representing the slider?
My anti-spam policy is "Delete and Ban": Delete the spam, ban the spammer.

I am trying to have to avoid that whole process, and I was using the slider to represent the methods already used.

It doesn't seem to me however that bots have caught onto this site anyway, simply due to the fact that you need to register via the main site to access the forums.

I'm talking about for my own purposes, and just asking everyone how they think it would work.

Ah. Well, wouldn't be very effective. I like the slider idea a lot, how would it actually be implemented?
