When you go to an invalid user page on the main site (i.e. http://scratch.mit.edu/users/), one of the options (search the site, for example) is 'go to http://scratch.mit.edu/users/scratch-girl.' My question is, in one word, why?

not all invalid users do that, scratch.mit.edu/users/x tells you to go to jso

It's google-powered, so it tells you to go to the most popular pages

Hmm, it looks like most invalid users tell you to go to JSO, with the exception of the one I linked to.

http://scratch.mit.edu/users/GIVE%20ME%20MY%20PIE doesn't tell you to go to anyone

B gives you 404, and points you to JSO. Quick, someone register it!

You could try banging your head against the keyboard, I doubt there'd be a user called whatever that produces.

Presumably they registered before the character requirement was put in place.

but... why does it do that? The original question about scratch-girl hasn't been resolved

Actually, if you look at the second reply by a random user named LS97, you'll find out...
