Seriously, I thought it was absolutely excellent! By far the best Spider-Man film yet.

It's a different series . . . so no it's not the trilogy canon but it's also not a "remake" (well it is but not so much).

It's a reboot, not a remake. A remake is a new version of a film, with pretty much exactly the same story. A reboot is just based on the same source material.
