The bots were fed extra cereal today.  tongue
I don't know, like I said, there are sometimes really bad outbreaks, and some days there's no spam at all.

Re: Spam!

Most of the spammers here are actual humans, so it's pretty much random when they come.

There are websites and forums dedicated to teaching commercial spamming (sad, but true); I've noticed that the Scratch website gets a lot of spam when someone comes out with a list of websites for commercial spamming and Scratch is on that list, this is probably what happened.  sad

Re: Spam!

I remember one about sunglasses and one about trading. But the latter was already deleted before I reported it. (Great job, mods!  big_smile )

Re: Spam!

I read that getting linked on a .edu domain helps your rank on search engines a lot, which is probably why they want to spam this site.

Yeah, it does, a lot of EDU websites like Scratch get spammed a lot because of it. It really sucks when people try to spam here for profit reasons.  sad

Yeah. However, that can be used in good ways too. LS97 and I both have links to the FutureSight website in our sigs, so there are over 4000 legitimately generated links.
I really wish that people would start being decent and just promote their site normally.

However, about the spike recently, I now see one-two spam posts every week instead of zero-one.

Re: Spam!

<I think I saw 4 or 5 in the new scratchers forum, and 3 in the project ideas (?) forum, all on the same day. I think they were mostly about football/rugby.>

It wasn't football, it was rugby. Between the bulls and the sharks, it was one of the biggest games here.

Did I mention I hate both rugby and spammers?
