I am growing my own crystals, they are colored, and different shapes. You need sugar, Epsom salt, alum, measuring cup, stove, and a little glass. Different chemicals make different sizes, shapes and colors. It also depends on how long you leave it for. Most 'perfect' crystals use a [b]seed[b] crystal. To make a seed crystal, put one of the chemicals I mentioned above into a measuring cup, measure out about 3.5 ounces, depending on the chemical. Boil water, and when it's boiling, put 1 ounce of chemical in at a time. Stir it about two minutes, and make sure it's off the burner. Optional:::: Add food coloring. Now, once the seed crystal forms, tie it around a very thin string. Then, tie the other end of string to a pencil. Put the same chemical in the water, and bla, bla, use the stove, bla. Put the seed crystal in the new solution mix, and wait for about 48-72 hours, or 2-3 days. Maybe 4, just to be safe. You can repeat this until you have a perfect crystal. Here's a picture of a perfect crystal:
If the picture doesn't work, then just comment
Now, to discuss other types of crystals, and how the crystal grows, and stuff like that.
A crystal is any type of mineral. Quartz is the most common type. Quartz is grown, too. It is grown naturally, though. Each crystal is different than any. Just like a snow flake. The crystals colors may be different, the shape, size, or even where it can grow. Most crystals grow in humid regions, or just put a heating lamp on it. You can even make red crystals, use food coloring. Don't handle the crystals too much, they are very fragile. The crystals grow due to a chemical reaction causing bonds to form between the solid object they are kept in. This method is also used to make slime. But my favorite part of being a crystal grower is the profit
$ $
. You can make a snow-globe, a tree ornament, or even a whole crystal garden, and sell it. In three days, you can make a minimum of $15.00, or more! Did I mention I like money? And do I sound too scientific? Well, I can't help the scientist talk, because that's gonna be my 71st job. I'm going to have a lot of jobs. I made $40.00 on 1, super colorful and huge crystal. Oh, man. It's my bedtime. I'll post more tomorrow.

I done that in science class at school last year lol. It is cool.

Once, I tried making a sugar crystal.
It was tasty.
Lol. I made one, too. I added lemon flavoring. It taste Delicious.

to see the image right click the link and hit view image or something along the lines of that depending on your browser
it works for me

I tried growing crystals with sugar... it didn't work

Everything
I'm surprised you haven't heard of it--it's about as famous as kavouriareaology.

i see
lets get back on topic and you can tell me all about it later

I think that'd make you a geologist

I think that'd make you a geologist
but dont they study stuff directly from the earth

Ok, I'm a chemist. Not a geologist, not a crystal scientist. A chemist.
Time to put the debate to rest: Crystallographer. Crystallography is a branch of Earth Science, although there are aspects of crystallography that could extend to biology and engineering.
Now back-on-topic. I had a crystal-making kit a long time ago, I made a few quartz crystals with it. I also attempted to make an amethyst crystal back then, too, but it was a flop.

You could become a cave explorer as well, specialising in identifying and discovering new crystals

I've got two of those kits. Haven't used them yet. :'(
That's a cool activity!

I think I did it in third grade, it was pretty fun. That was the only time we got to take our science experiments home. :3
